First round of blog posts

I’m enjoying all of your posts on Mather and Edwards. In the original assignment I asked you to post 2-3 substantial paragraphs. I think it might be a bit hard to tell how long a paragraph should be in the blog post since we’re used to looking at them in Microsoft Word, so a better measure of length might be word count. Your post should be at least 350 words. I’m grading the posts on a 3-point scale, which corresponds to check minus, check, check plus. Your grades are posted on Blackboard.

I’ve also left comments on your blogs with questions and suggestions. If you would prefer not to have comments, let me know and I’ll just post your grade to Blackboard.

For some examples of excellent posts, check out:

Menna has done a great job of integrating and explaining quotations from the text in her post.

Joe takes issue with Edwards’ use of scripture and provides his own reading of the passage.

Many posts mentioned that Edwards’ sermon was straight-forward or carefully structured; Chelsea gives a detailed account of the effects of that structure on the reader.

Courtney’s post provides a good example of incorporating and explicating quotations from the text.
